Responsibility To: God, Others, Us

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it; Love your neighbor as your self" (Matt.22:37-38).

In two short and concise verses, Jesus puts our whole lives into a very clear perspective... With the first commandment as the very core of our being, the second makes it all complete. Our first love and responsibility is to our God. With that firmly entrenched in our heart, soul, and mind, the second regarding ourselves and others ought to logically follow. We are to give ourselves completely to serving Him. God desired that the children of Israel have this in their hearts also, but their service under the first covenant was often not from the heart as it was supposed to be. It prompted the prophet Isaiah to write: "Because these people draw near to me with their words and honor Me with lip service, but they remove their hearts from Me and their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote, therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous" (29:13-14). God wants the whole enchilada... He desires service with all our hearts in our relationship with Him. "Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only" (Matt.4:10). He wants that inner part of us, our spirit, in our worship, because He looks at us from the inside. Because God is watching, our worship must come from the heart and with the right purpose. Lets make sure we get it right... Responsibility and love to God, others, us....

Have a wonderful day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
