Staying Afloat

"But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground..." (Acts 27:41)

My partner and I had a bit of a chuckle when we went by the spot where the big cabin cruiser went aground the other day, and my thoughts turned to what I would write about today. About 15 or so years ago, I purchased a hand-held GPS. I paid what I thought was a princely amount at the time, for what was a state-of-art electrical device that is now a dinosaur... I still use it and it has paid for itself many times as I have navigated through dense fog to work and found spots I had marked where there were clams... If we want to stay off the sandbars of life and be able to navigate through the fog and storms, God has provided us with several important navigational aids. First and foremost, we have the love of Jesus, and our desire to emulate Him, (Matt.6:33) to not only stay afloat, but to set and stay on a safe course. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us into making decisions that will make our lives more fruitful and productive. We have the Spirit inspired Word that will help chart our way in the Lord's direction. On my GPS, I am able to set "waypoints" to find specific spots I want to go to, and our Bibles will let is know where those places are that we want to be in our lives. Finally, God has given us brothers and sisters in the Lord to weep with us in times of distress, and laugh in times of joy. Within our churches, we have the ability and desire to encourage one another toward love and good deeds.. Lets be sure to use all of the navigational equipment God has provided us with so that we will stay off the sandbars of life... Staying afloat is good....

Have a great day.... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
