Cost And Worth

"Often I'm hindered along my way.
Burdened so heavy I almost fall;
Then I hear Jesus sweetly say;
Heaven will surely be worth it all

From "Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All" W.Oliver Cooper 1945

One of my Father's predictable comments upon hearing that I purchased something was; "What did they soak you for that." It was his way of asking what it cost... There was never a what is it worth in there, but only what was the cost. Having lived through the Great Depression, any money outlays were carefully monitored. Rather than a scripture, I used the first verse of a song written by W. Oliver Cooper in 1945. When I look over the words to the song, two things come to mind. One is the many sacrifices that a Christian might be called to make in his or her life. The other is the glory of heaven and what is to come for those who remain faithful. The song makes the proclamation through title and words that the rewards will surely be worth whatever the cost. In 2 Cor.4:17, the apostle Paul put it this way: "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." It would seem to me that all of this is wrapped around our discipleship. It is a discipleship that Jesus said and the scriptures back up that might sometimes be costly. Now I don't know about you, but I've had a lot more sunshine in my life than rain. It is always good to balance out the good and the bad from time to time and realize that is probably true in all of our lives. Through it all, we must be willing to expend the time and effort in promoting the cause of Christ in positive ways. A big part of "Cost And Worth" is that Heaven Will Be Surely Worth It All....

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
