Identifying Jesus

"When Jesus had come to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, 'Who do people say the Son of Man is?'" (Matt.16:13)

As you likely know from experience, not everyone views Jesus the same way. When looking at His life and all the things He did and taught, many see Him as a great teacher. Others look at Him and see a great prophet, while still others think He was a very wise man. In His day, the religious leaders thought He was a troublemaker who endangered their authority and way of life. His life was a seemingly endless, non-stop mission to explain that he was the Son of God. Today's question must have been posed when there was a lull in the action, as Jesus asks His disciples who people think He is. The disciples looked around at themselves and could not come to a consensus, as they replied: "Some say Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets" (V 14). Who knows. after some lively discussion and a laugh or two, it got quiet again and Jesus poses a second question, this one directed at Peter... "But what about you? " "Who do you say I am?" Peter's answer echoes through the corridors of time.... "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (V 15-16). Peter answers the question for all mankind, us included. What a blessing it is to know that we get to serve and obey the great living God. What a blessing to is to know that His Son's teaching's pave our way to Him and that through His death and resurrection the deal is sealed. "Thanks, Peter....." You identified Jesus perfectly for all of us....

Have a wonderful day... Do good and give Jesus the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
