God's Mercy And Grace

"Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more" (Jn.8:11)

Today's verse is the back end of a situation in Jesus' life in which the teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought a women to Him that had been caught in adultery.. It was another of their feeble attempts to trap Jesus into saying or doing something incriminating to Himself. Unfortunately for them, Jesus not only knew the Law better than they did, but He knew the heart of God --- He also knew the hearts of the Pharisees and that they were not really concerned with keeping this law about stoning. If they were, they would have also brought the man involved in the adultery, after all, its not a solo sin... Jesus brilliantly twisted the trap back on the Pharisees by saying: "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first" (8:7). Can you imagine the relief the woman felt when she heard Jesus' word in today's verse.. But we must understand the whole story, which is not just about a woman and her exposed sin... This us a story about us and God because we all have to face up to our sins eventually. We all deserve to die ( Rom.6:23). So when our sins are exposed and we have no more lies to hide behind, how does God respond? With mercy and grace! Mercy is when someone doesn't give you what you deserve. Grace, on the other hand, gives you something that you don't deserve! Despite our sins, God doesn't not condemn those who are found in Jesus. Lets us all praise our great God of mercy and grace...

Have a great start to your week. Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
