Getting In The Game

"For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and asked that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord" (Col.1:9-10a).

As we look again into the apostle Paul's prayer for the Colossians, we see that after asking for knowledge, he then desires that they will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord... He asks that they be willing participants in the Lord's work. Just as an increased knowledge of something like a sport or hobby increases our interest and skill, so does participation in it. It makes sense to me that the more we participate in God's work, the more we will want to participate.... Just sitting on the bench (filling a pew?) is not nearly as much fun as being active in God's kingdom, as participation in His work makes it more interesting. There is a wonderful blessedness that comes with doing the Lord's will.. "But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does" (Jas.1:25). The Psalmist says (119:1-2) that happiness comes to those who walk in the way of the Lord... It would be good for us to read and meditate on those two verses today... Any labor that we do for the Lord will not be in vain There is certainly there is a happier conscience, and a satisfaction in knowing that you are a doer of the the Word, instead of just a hearer. Lets all get up off the bench and into the game. Its a lot more fun....

Have a great day... Do good and give the Lord the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
