The Sacrificial Shepherd

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (Jn.10:10)

Some people think that Jesus rising from the dead is the most outrageous event in history. I will grant that it is mind-blowing, but the most outrageous event has to be Jesus dying. When we give thought to the fact that Jesus is God's Son.... That He God in the flesh.. The scandal is that God died... The immortal One took on mortality --- in its fullest sense. How could God have possibly died? Jesus explains it in Jn.10:15-18. This would be a good passage for us to read and meditate upon. As we look at today's verse, Jesus is talking about an abundant life for those that believe in Him. Now this might be construed as meaning heaven, but in another sense, though, Jesus is talking about the present life here on earth. God doesn't want us to start living after we die! I believe that He wants us to live today and each day. As we have considered the past few days, to live out the seasons of our lives and be hopeful, joyous, and productive in each of them... "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned" (Jn.5:24). For those of us who believe in Jesus, we have already crossed from death to life. So yes indeed, the abundant life is our eternal life in heaven, but at the same time, the eternal life starts now... Its all because of Jesus, the Sacrificial Shepherd... Lets all enjoy this wonderful life in the Lord....

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
