Its Not A Lost Sock

"I am the Good Shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me ---- just as the Father knows me and I know the Father ---- and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd" (Jn.10:14-16).

Did you ever go hunting for a lost sock? You know that the sock did not grow legs and walk away, but the pesky thing just can't be found. Some folks think that salvation is like that lost sock that we cannot keep track of. Hmmmmmm... "Now where did I put my salvation again? Is it between the cushions of the couch or under the bed? I better go check the dryer... Now, I really needed that salvation; I wish I hadn't lost it..." In today's verses, Jesus is depicted as that wonderful good shepherd that knows His sheep. Not only that, the sheep know Him. One Of Jesus' jobs here on earth was to be that good shepherd to the point that He would lay down His life for His sheep."Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep'" (Lk.15:3-6). Salvation does not work like the lost sock... If we are in Jesus' flock, He is going to do everything He can to protect us. If we somehow wander away from the flock, He will drop everything and find us, and then He'll carry us home... Don't misunderstand... The point here is not that walking away from God is impossible. The point is that we cannot accidentally wander away. Even more important is that no one can take your salvation away from you. Evil has no power over good, and we have the Good Shepherd defending us...

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
