I See You

"Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him, and He disappeared from their sight" (Lk.24:31).

Many of Jesus' disciples were totally devoted to Him, but they just did not comprehend the depth of His main mission. They had to come to grips with the fact that Jesus was not going to be a warrior king in the likeness of David, and He was not going to save Israel from Rome. The saving He was going to do was of a different nature, but even more powerful. He came to save the whole world from sin. No matter how many times Jesus told His followers that He had to die, they just couldn't get past the idea of what they thought Jesus was supposed to be. Their dreams of an earthly revolution died with Him on the cross. Today's verse follows Jesus appearing to them on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection... Finally, two of His disciples got to hear Jesus (who was apparently in disguise) explain the scriptures to them..."Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him..." People of all ages have suffered the plight of having preconceived ideas about important things. Do we ever have any preconceived thoughts about Jesus that stop us from seeing just who He truly is? If so, maybe it would be a good exercise for us to start from the very beginning and set aside everything we know about Jesus and Christianity.. We can then read our Bibles with a fresh set of eyes... "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness...." (Matt.6:33) When we seek we will find, and if we seek to see Jesus for who he really is, then He will be revealed to us... We can say; "I see you...."

Have a wonderful day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
