One Last Whiff

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing" (2 Cor.2:14-15).

Years ago, a trip into Atlantic City on the south side was an aromatic one. On Albany Avenue across from Bader Field was the Ireland Coffee Company. The business started in 1917 and moved from the AC location in 1984, but I can still remember the lovely and pungent aroma of the roasting coffee beans, long before I was a coffee drinker. As I moved on by the plant, I would struggle to get one last whiff of the aroma. I have done a series of devotionals on forgiveness, and we'll get the last whiff this morning. It is evident from today's verses, that God wants to use us the spread the aroma that accompanies Godly forgiveness. In forgiving the way we should, we are the aroma of Christ to others, but I have one last thought about this passage... If we look to the end of verse sixteen, we will find the apostle Paul posing a question for us...It reads; "And who is equal to such a task?" It certainly sounds like a challenge to me... I believe that he asked the question because he knows how difficult a task that true forgiveness to one who has offended us is. We are certainly not equal to it in and of ourselves. Being equal to such a task comes from Jesus Christ and what He accomplished on the cross. The sufficiency of what He accomplished, gives us the ability to grant forgiveness to others... We can forgive, comfort and love those who have offended us. We are equal to the task through Christ. The real question is this... But will we? A quick look at Phil.4:13 should answer that...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
