The Season Of Birth

"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law" (Gal.4:4). "But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over all Israel...." (Micah 5:2)

I wonder if Joseph and Mary complained about the stuff that many couples do today.. I can hear them now... "Not only do we have to pay these unfair taxes, but we have to travel 65 miles to do it...." Mary might have said: "Do you think there might be a pregnancy clause, so that we can get an extension?" "Did you make reservations at a nice bed and breakfast?" When we look at the Christmas cards we received or sent, they show a soft golden glow surrounding a beautiful mother with a clean and sparkly baby in her arms. Her husband and the animals of the manger scene look on adoringly. First of all, giving birth is not an easy thing, and imagine it happening in a stinky barn on a floor of hay. The baby got laid in a manger which is a fancy word for a feeding trough where animals had eaten and slobbered. God put Jesus and His family through a lot of trouble just to be born, and the humble story shows just how much He loved us. The shepherds, angels, and wise men were all a part of the exciting story of Jesus entering this world. As we open those gifts today, lets remember the great gift of Jesus that God gave to us. "For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given..... and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end..." (Isa.9:6-7). God gave us a Savior...

Merry Christmas, and have a wonderful day... Love mark Phil.4:11
