The Art Of Discovery

"Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven" (Matt.16:17).

Jesus uttered these words to Peter when he answered the question correctly. The question asked of the disciples was; "Who do you say I am?" (V. 15). The correct answer was; "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God" (V. 16). Do we grow weary of all these questions and answers? We do not because they are an important part of the learning process. In the teacher student relationship, its always about the art of discovery. A good teacher is always trying to get his or her students to discover what he or she wants them to discover. Somehow, Peter made the discovery... "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God...." Its what Jesus wanted Peter and the disciples to discover. Its what Jesus wants everyone to discover. Salvation begins with this confession of faith. The confession of faith that Peter made was so important that Jesus would throw out some more stuff He wanted them to discover... "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it..." And there's more! "And I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" (Vs. 18-19). The keys that Peter and the disciples were to be given would turn the lock that had barred humans from heaven. It gets unlocked for us when we make the discovery... More about the keys tomorrow...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
