Blessings Of The Host

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others" (Phil.2:3-4).

When Jesus taught that it is more blessed to give than to receive, He really meant it... . It did not just mean that recipient was blessed, or even that giving is more pleasing to God. He also was trying to tell us that the giver himself is more blessed, and along with this, more fortunate and joyous. Though the world may deem this to be contradictory, the giver actually gets more of the good things in life than the taker... I think that it is an inherent part of God's nature to give, so it pleases Him greatly when that becomes ingrained in our persona. In our attempt to be more God-like people, since we were created in His image, it behooves us to extend our attitudes in an outward fashion. We can get the full measure of happiness and enjoyment in being outwardly oriented, by being givers rather than takers. When folks try to gain happiness by being selfish rather than selfless, failure always ensues. As we get better at meditating on God's Word, I think we will learn the blessedness that accompanies giving a part of ourselves to others. I don't know about you but I would like to have my life characterized by the doing of productive things for others rather than by the consuming of that which others do for me... A few more positive traits tomorrow...

Have a great day.... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
