Setting The Bar

"Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did" (1 Jn.2:6).

My title this morning dovetails just right into the above verse. Both are short and concise, and in a nutshell, they tell us that to lead a good and productive life, "setting the bar" is important. It means that we should have a standard which is the source of the things we do. The apostle John, in a few well chosen words gives us the standard... Jesus set the bar for us and has become our standard. If we claim to be his follower in our life, we must walk as He did. Peter took this a bit farther by saying: "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow His steps" (1 Pet.2:21). Scripture clearly lets us know that Jesus has set the bar, and that we are to follow that example on our walk. Without exception, not only did He do the right things, but He did them for the right reasons. The evidence of the fact that He was setting the bar is reflected in His own words... "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matt.5:16). When we are walking as Jesus did, the things we say and do are a reflection of His life. There is even something extra that I must add to this. When we are following Jesus' example, we get to set the bar for others by our very actions. We get to share the gospel message through doing the right things for the right reasons.... Jesus not only set the bar, but He set it perfectly...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
