Remembering The Presence Of Jesus

"Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near" (Phil.4:5).

As we continue our pursuit of remembering Jesus, today's remembrance is a simple, concise and easy one. We must always remember that Jesus is near His people. Our worship services are designed for us be aware of His proximity. Through our singing, prayers, Lord's Supper and Bible study, we are reminded of His presence. It is so wonderful to be with our brothers and sisters in worship and feel Jesus' nearness to us all, but when we leave the building, He leaves with each of us. He reminds us through His Word to be good and moral people and caps it off by saying: "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you..." (Heb.13:5). We have reason to have hope in times when things aren't going so well when we remember that verse. When the temptations around us are at their strongest, Jesus is right there, promising to help us through... "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one that has been tempted in every way, just as we are --- yet was without sin" (Heb.4:15). That is one of the glorious things about Jesus having left heaven and taking the form of a human being. The apostle Paul's words echo in my ears... "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will provide a way out so that you can stand up under it..." (1 Cor.10:13). Lets go through today remembering that Jesus is right there with us....
