Don't Give Up - Don't Ever Give Up

"For as a man thinks within himself, so he is" (Prov.23:7)

Jim Valvano was a college basketball coach who led the North Carolina State Wolfpack to an NCAA championship in 1983. He was diagnosed with cancer in June of 1992 and died at the age of 47 in April of 1993. Wracked with cancer, he was the featured speaker at the first annual ESPY award show in March of 1993. He announced that there would be a cancer foundation established with the motto, "Don't Give Up....Don't Ever Give Up" Millions of dollars are raised each year for cancer research each year because of the foundation. The speech he gave at the awards ceremony is a famous one, and if you "google" Jim Valvano speech, you can read it or see it on UTube... Whether you are a sports fan or not, the speech is excellent. He had such a positive outlook on life, and I would like to quote an excerpt from the speech... "To me, there are 3 things we should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number 1 is to laugh. Number 2 is to think. You should spend some time in thought. And number 3 is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. You should do that 7 days a week, and you're going to have something special..." Valvano had to be helped to and from the podium that night, but was determined to turn his fate into something positive, which he accomplished. Jim Valvano had heart... "As a man thinks in his heart, so he is..." (Prov.23:7). Curing the ills of life is an "inside job." We must always be ready to make adjustments and "changes of heart..."

Have a great start your week.... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
