Church of Christ

The Behavior Of Equality

"So that there may be no division in the body, but that the members have the same care for one another" (1 Cor.12:25).

Imagine if you would that the head tells the body to go forward, but the feet carry it sideways. How about if the hands reach out to touch something, but the legs carry the body backwards... There would be so much confusion if the body parts did not work with harmony in which they are supposed supposed to. It is exactly that way in the "body of Christ." As the apostle Paul is writing to a church in Corinth that is bickering over things they should not be bickering over, he writes; "If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each of you is a part of it..." (Vs. 26-27). My daughter-in-law is an artist and I am totally amazed what she is able to create from a vision in her head to a canvas. One of the things that really gets me is how she mixes the colors on her palette to create a certain hue... When the colors are united and the desired hue is created, it is now a color of its own with no division in it. I think this is what God wants from His Body in Christ... Divisiveness got so weird among the Corinthians, that they even argued over who baptized them, so Paul wrote; "I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no division among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought" (1 Cor.1:10). Harmony without division possible when not only all the parts work together properly, but that they all have equal care for one another. When we all learn the "behavior of equality," we take a giant step toward the being the type of church we were designed to be... That old New Jersey slogan... "Perfect Together..."

Have a great day.... Make your little part of the world better.... Love mark Phil.4:11
