A Religion That Is Stormproof

"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, and the streams rose, and the winds blew against the house; yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock...." (Matt.7:24-25).

On March 6-8 of 1962, Atlantic City experienced what they still call "The Great Storm." It was a full moon and the winds blew from the east for 3 days. The tide rose to the highest level ever recorded, causing people to build their new homes in such a way as to reflect how high that tide was. Preparedness for natural or man-made disasters has been common to people for many years. In Midwest "tornado alleys," people have storm cellars and in the 50s and 60s, some folks built "fallout shelters" as a place to survive a possible nuclear attack. Soldiers build bunkers and in places of seismic unrest, "earthquake-proof" buildings are erected. It all about "surviving the storm..." Today's verses talk about building a "stormproof" religion with the example of the wise man building his house upon a rock foundation... If we read ahead, we see the foolish man who made no such preparation, and built his house upon the sand... The Lord tells us that when the storms of life strike, that some will stand and others will fall. A stormproof religion is one that absolutely demands two things. Those two things are faith and obedience. Both the wise and foolish man knew about possible storms, but only one of them had a faith that was strong enough to take the proper action. We must surely know that there is a possible storm lurking out there. Only a stormproof religion will get us through it... More about the storms tomorrow...

Have a great day... Do good and give God the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
