Fitness Through Prep And Prayer

"... and you feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace" (Eph.6:16) "And pray for us, too, that God might open a door for our message, so that we may present the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains" (Col.4:2).

I have chosen two areas in which we must be fit in order to be useful to the Lord. In the 6th chapter of the Book of Ephesians, the apostle Paul writes about "putting on the armor" of God. He says that the feet have to be fitted with readiness...When the important things of life come up, they always work out better when we make preparation for them. Some people simply cannot be used by the Lord because they have not made the adequate preparation to be fit for his usage. The readiness spoken of in today's verse is always preceded by preparation. We all know that God chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. What we sometime gloss over is the fact that Moses spent 80 years in preparing for the task. A good partner for preparation in fitness is prayer. To be truly fit for the Lord's usage, we must be people of prayer. Great people of God in the Bible have always been strong and mighty in prayer. In today's verse from the Book of Colossians, Paul is writing from prison... He wants the gospel message to be spread, so the asks for the brethren at Colosse to pray about it. If we look at the very next verse, we find that Paul wants those prayers to have an even wider scope... "Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should..." He desires that the brethren pray for him... So we have two partners in getting ourselves fit for the Lord's use.... Preparation and prayer... Lets all make sure that we use them both...

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
