Fit As A Good Student

"Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Eph.6:17).

This is the last in the series of things we must possess to be "fit" for the Lord's use. Having your feet fitted with the readiness (preparation) that comes from the gospel of peace, (V 15) the apostle Paul comes up with another necessity for usefulness. To be truly fit for God's use, we must be students of the Word... Our Bibles must become more than "coffee table" books. Do you know what I'm getting at. Those pretty books we put on the coffee table that people might pick up once in a while, take a cursory glance or two, and then put it down. If we only read a verse every so often, that does not qualify for being a good student of God's Word... When we were in school, we knew that we had a much better chance at making a good grade on a test, if we actually studied and knew the material. I want to take this a step or two farther though. To be fit for the Lord's use, more than "knowing the material" is required... We must not only know it but believe it also. To take this to a natural conclusion, we must also know how to use it. Life is indeed an everyday test of our faith, belief, knowledge, and usage. Only if we "pass the test," are we useful to the Lord. So, lets review... To be useful to the Lord we must: (1) Cleanse ourselves from the world, (2) Love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, and mind, (3) Place ourselves at God's disposal, (4) Prepare for His work, (5) Be prayerful people, (6) Be students of His Word in belief, knowing, and usage. There is just one question we should ask ourselves... Does this describe us?

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
