What We Do With Life's Burdens

"Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each should carry his own load" (Gal.6:5).

There is an old Spanish proverb that says this; "No home is there anywhere that does not sooner or later have its hush..." It is certainly true that all of us will have burdens from time to time. There are many of them that can be readily seen, but the deepest and maybe most poignant are not seen. If we only knew what fierce battles others are fighting, our burdens might not seem so heavy, but would rather teach us restraint and charity. That very fact should, to some degree, give us caution... This week I want to look at three statements that the Bible makes about our burdens. The first might seem a bit harsh, but I want you to bear with me... "Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load" (Gal.6:5). Burdens are non-transferable... Every life is in some way isolated and segregated from every other life, and to a remarkable degree, every person lives alone. From cradle to grave, we very largely live alone. Jesus said this: "Its not like a man is going away: in charge, each with his assigned task.... (Mk.13:34). Jesus is not saying "a" task but "his" task... No person can believe, repent or be baptized for us and no one will answer for us at judgement, as each must give an account for themselves. 18th century theologian Jonathon Edwards said this; "Resolved that every man should do right. Resolved, secondly that whether any man does right or not, I will, so help me God." It would be a cruel God that would leave us dangling in the wind, so lets look at the second statement regarding our burdens tomorrow...

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
