How To Help

"You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached ----- how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went about doing good.... (Acts 10:37-38).

For me, the instruction manuals for how things are put together must be precise, simple, and to the point. Many good and graphic pictures are necessary. The Bible is filled with many examples of just how we can help others, and though they do not come with pictures, they're easily understandable nonetheless... Number one is seen in today's verses. If we are to follow Jesus as our example we must know this first and foremost... "He went about doing good...." All that Jesus did came from a pure motive, and thus He constantly did good stuff. The first step in helping others is getting it right ourselves by living a holy kind of life. Saying the right things is surely important, but when we back them up by our actions, we are on our way to helping others... The 19th century British politician William Gladstone coined a saying that went like this; "one example is worth 1,000 arguments." In His discussion with Abram, God agreed to spare Sodom if he found just 10 righteous people there. Another way to help others is by believing in them. Jesus called Matthew, a tax gatherer, to be one of the twelve disciples. Zaccheaus, another tax collector, is moved by Jesus' influence to give half of his possessions to the poor and by making a four-fold restitution for any that had been charged too much. Jesus was willing to look for the good in people, forgiving them of their past, and finding their better nature. We should not be in the business of spying out the faults and weaknesses of others, but rather behave with compassion, brotherly love, and sympathy for a needy world. Have you received a second chance that really helped you along the way? Why not give it to others...

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:114:11
