The First And Last Resort

"Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall" (Psa.55:22).

As I have written about ways to deal with the burdens of life over the past three days, the watershed is finally here... King David is threatened by a powerful conspiracy in Jerusalem under the leadership of a former friend. Psalm 55 is a plea in the form of a prayer, asking for the Lord's help... It would be good for us to read the whole chapter and meditate upon it to get its full flavor... As we look particularly at verse six, we find these words; "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest ------" The burden was so great that David thought of throwing in the towel by fleeing. Have we ever felt like this? "I'll run away..." "I'll give up..." "Its not worth the trouble..." None of these will work to get us out of the wilderness of our problem(s). As long as we have a memory, we will still have the burden. Since we can't run or hide from it, where do we go? "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you..." How? He will either take the burden away, or give us the strength to bear it. Daniel was not kept from the lion's den, but the mouths of the lions were closed... Shaddrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not kept out of the fiery furnace, the fire just did not harm them... Paul prayed that his "thorn in the flesh" would go away and his answer was this; "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.." (2 Cor.12:9). Lastly, Jesus prayed in Gethsemane that He would not have to die, but God gave Him the strength to face His fate. Lets all not seek to bear our burdens alone when God is available to us and promises to sustain us... In a world torn by strife, we can face the battles, clouds, and shadows if we learn to cast our cares on the Lord... Whatever our burden or grief... doubt or disappointment... regret, remorse or conscious failure.... Lets dare to cast our burdens, ourselves and our all on the Lord....

Have a great day... Let His sun shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
