Lessons About Worth

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (2 Cor.4:18).

We live in a world that is obsessed by profit/loss... The NASDAQ, Dow, and S & P... Gains and declines, the price of a barrel of crude oil and the "bulls and the bears." What is it that all of these things have in common that sets folks to speculate about them every day? Upon some not so deep thought, it must be that they constantly fluctuate... This is true of stocks, bonds, gold and silver, and even the worth of our currency. I didn't mean to go on a tirade about financials, because I am in no way an expert in the field, so lets get to something of value that I have some familiarity with... Just how much is a soul worth? The worth of a soul remains unchanged yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is so unique because of what is stated in today's verse... It cannot be seen, touched or handled, yet as surely as there is joy, sorrow, pain, love, trust, kindness, and patience, it exists. The things I just mentioned are evidences that the soul is even more real than the "visible things of life..." Although the word soul in the KJV changes to life in the ASV, nothing is lost. When Jesus speaks about the soul, eternal life is always connected. For the next few days, we will take a look at the worth of one's soul. As we look at how the world views what is valuable, we will remember these words of Jesus... "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?"

Have a great start to your week... Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark 1
