We Can't Have Everything

"The wicked are not so, but they are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous" (Psa.1:4-5).

Yesterday we delved into trades or exchanges that could be potentially disastrous when it comes to the soul, as Jesus said, "or what will a man give in exchange for his soul..." (Mk.8:37). When grains like wheat or rice are harvested, each individual kernel is the target. That's where all the nutrition is, but there is lighter stuff that surrounds it that has no use. In today's verses, the wicked are compared to that stuff, the useless chaff... The psalmist compares the sinner to that chaff to tell us that when the grain is used that it cannot be there... People just cannot have a life filled with unrepentant sin and expect to be welcomed into heaven later. "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life" (Gal.6:6-7). We can have sin, but at the sacrifice of heaven, or heaven at the price of giving up sin. It would seem that the choice is ours.... Lets listen to the words of Jesus; "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it" (Matt.13:45-46). The wise trader gives ALL for the kingdom of heaven. Why sift through the chaff, when we can have the grain, and why muck through inferior pearls when we can have the very best one? Since we cannot have everything, lets choose the best...

Have a great day... Let His Light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
