The Cross Is The Central Message

"When I came to you. brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom when I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified" (1 Cor.2:1-2).

In today's two verses, the apostle Paul makes his intentions crystal clear. No fancy talk laced with eloquent words would be featured here... He cut everything down to one key issue. Just what was at the core of his message? "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." In this election season, do you listen to the political candidates as they sprout their philosophies to the people whose votes they are trying to get? Sometimes, a candidate's record belies the very things he or she is claiming to profess to folks to swing them to their side. Because of the constituency, the message in Iowa is different than the one in New Hampshire. Paul's message never wavers... Jesus is always at the center of his teaching, and the cross is at the very core. It did not matter whether Paul was writing to the Corinthians, Ephesians, Philippians, or Romans... A few verses later (3-10) Paul emphasizes that his words came from the Spirit's power, so that your faith may not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power (V 5). That same message rings true to us today. There is still nothing that comes from man that can deliver and save us... The same message that Paul delivered about 2,000 years ago is the saving one. God delivers us through the message of the cross of Christ...

Have a great day... T G I F Thank God I'm Free.... Love mark Phil.4:11
