God Exists Cosmologically

"For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God" (Heb.4:3).

Cosmology is defined as the science or theory of the universe, its parts, and its laws. This should explain my title this morning... Simply put, the cosmological argument begins by recognizing that things "come into existence." These things, like humans for example, owe their existence to other humans. Thus, we were contingent to the existence of two previous humans. The very idea of contingency implies dependence. Contingent beings are finite and obviously cannot have an infinite existence... If this is true, there must therefore be an infinite, non contingent, non dependent being that put this all in motion... I believe that being is God! As we take a look at today's verse, we see a house that is contingent. For this reason, the writer states, for every house is built by someone... Bottom line? If someone doesn't build the house, it doesn't just "poof" into existence. The house wouldn't exist! I have never been real interested in my personal genealogy, but understand that some folks are obsessed by it. The following is actually good enough for me... Me, my parents and grandparents are all finite, and if we go back farther, this remains true. For this reason, I look to the second part of today's verse that says; but the builder of all things is God... It is easy for me to see and believe that God, the infinite one, is indeed the builder of all things...

Have a great day... Do good and give God the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
