There Is A God, He Is Alive

"There is, beyond the azure blue, a God concealed from human sight. He tinted skies with heavenly hue and framed the world with His great might.
There is a God, He is alive, In Him we live, and we survive; from dust our God created man, He is our God, the great I AM."

From the hymn "Our God, He Is Alive" by A. W. Dicus 1966

There is a good chance that we will be singing this hymn during our worship services on Sunday. When I write or deliver a sermon, the term "preaching to the choir" is often used. The rationale for that little saying is that the believers are the ones that are reading and listening. Even if that were completely true, it is of vital importance that we stay close to the Lord. We do this by reading, meditating, praising, and listening. If we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, this obviously fulfills and reinforces our belief that He exists. For those who like to pit science against God's existence, there are things written that state things about the earth that were not generally accepted by man. For example, the "roundness" of the earth is strongly implied in the books of Psalms, Job, Isaiah, Daniel and Ecclesiastes.... Scientific foreknowledge always works for me. As a believer, one of the most powerful examples for God's existence lies in the fulfillment of prophesies. They range in depth from those that were fulfilled in Old Testament times, to those made about the coming of Jesus. The three arguments ( cosmological, teleological, moral) may help us help others who are searching for an answer. For people of faith, there are so many other arguments that allow a rational person to believe in God's existence... The words of A. W. Dicus ring true to me... "There is a God, He is alive, In Him we live, and we survive..."
