Prosperity - The Source

"But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today" (Deut.8:18).

I am afraid that many feel that it is impossible to find happiness and prosperity and be a good Christian too... There are biblical examples, like today's verse, that show how service to God and the right kind of prosperity are compatible. Gen.24:21, 40, 42 & 56 finds the old servant's search for Isaac's wife was recognized as an evidence of God's prosperity every step of the way... In Dan.6:25-28, we find Daniel at no disadvantage both during and after his trials. "Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of the week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made" (1 Cor.16:1-2). What I draw from these verses is that Christians should regard their prosperity as having come from God, and use it for His cause. Within this context, it makes perfect sense to me that the Lord blesses those that use a segment of their income in service of others. In 1883, Daniel. W. Whittle wrote the lyrics of the hymn "There Shall Be Showers (Showers Of Blessing)" "There shall be showers of blessing, This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above." If you get a chance, read over all five verses of the hymn and the chorus. I believe that the Lord looks at us giving a generous portion of what we have in service to others and that we in turn receive the showers of blessing. For the next three days, we'll look at the ancient recipe for peace (happiness) and prosperity... Don't forget about Psalm 122...

Have a great day... Do good and give God the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
