More From Worship - Seeing God For Who He Is

"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple" (Isa.6:1).

Why do people go to Broadway shows, NFL games, or concerts? There are some obvious reasons, but I would submit that one of the reasons is to actually see or hear someone that is famous. When the Beatles made their initial tour to the USA, they filled stadiums. Because of the acoustics of the stadiums, the quality of the music was not very good, but those that attended were in the presence of the Beatles... In today's verse, Isaiah got to see the Lord for who HE REALLY WAS! I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. In the Old Testament, seeing God was not exactly a comforting thing. Jacob said; "I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved." (Gen.32:30). The Israelites said to Moses; "You speak to with us and we will listen. But do not let God speak to us or we will die" (Ex.20:19). Even Moses had this said to him by God; "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live" (Ex.33:20). Isaiah saw the Lord and it changed his life forever... When we worship the Lord today, do we see him as Isaiah did? Oh, we probably say the right things about going to "worship God," but do we really believe that we are in His presence? The singing, sermon, Lord's Supper, and giving are all great, but the highlight of our worship should be about His presence. We get to come before Him and enter His gates...Being with the Lord should change our lives too...

Have a great day.. Do good and give God the credit... Love mark Phil.4:11
