More From Worship - Seeing God's Mercy

"One of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said; 'Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity (guilt) is taken away and your sin is forgiven" (Isa.6:6-7).

We have seen thus far that Isaiah has seen God in all His majesty in verse one, and who he is in verse five. Today we come to another aspect of getting more out of worship, when we get to see one of God's greatest attributes... Isaiah was right to be awed in God's presence. By the same token, he was correct in being humbled in the comparison between he and the Lord. But in his awe and humility, the seraphim comes out with a burning coal...Perhaps the burning coals represent the coals that Aaron took from the altar of the Most Holy Place on the Day of Atonement in Leviticus 16:12... The seraphim touched the burning coals to Isaiah's lips with these wonderful words; Your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven... It is so vitally important for us to know this fantastic aspect of our God. When we come to him through faith, with obedience, we are freed from the guilt of our sins. Our lips are cleansed and we now get to extol God's great virtues, especially this one. We serve a God of mercy.. When we come before Him with that attitude, our worship becomes more meaningful and rich. There is a great chasm between who God is and who man is... What brings us closer together is His wonderful mercy...

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you.... Love mark Phil.4:11
