What's It Take To Live Like Strangers And Pilgrims?

"We live by faith and not by sight" (2 Cor.5:7).

Although we live in a physical world, we must operate by spiritual standards, promises and realities. "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Heb.11:6). Living by faith and not by sight isn't easy, but knowing that he exists and rewards those who actively seek him is wonderfully rewarding. Lets take a look at how Abraham and Sarah lived by faith as strangers and pilgrims in a foreign country. Perhaps when we consider the ways their faith was shown, we'll get some insight about living that way too... Abraham and Sarah, though they walked by faith, believed the process... They did not receive all of the promises in their lifetime and saw them from afar off. That notwithstanding, they trusted that God would keep his promises... There is an aspect of uncertainty in living as a pilgrim, as we have no real stake in this world, and actually no real place. Our faith must be shown by trusting that God will take care of us as he did Abraham and Sarah. The trust that He will see us though this life, and reward us in the end.. None of this works if we do not obey God's instructions. Walking by faith does not only mean that we believe in God! The word "walk" is an action word. Walking by faith means that we trust God enough to do what He says. The writer of the Book of James is quick to point out (2:18-26) that faith is made known by our works for Him... Looking back, if Abraham and Sarah would not have obeyed God, we would know absolutely nothing about their faith. More about living as pilgrims tomorrow...

Have a great day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
