Coming Out Of The World

"But just because he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.' Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, Live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear" (1 Peter 1:15-16).

Our faith is displayed by how we live during our sojourn here on earth. To be what the Lord wants us to be, we have to abstain from things that would pull us away from the Him... If we fall in love with this place we are pilgrims in, and become attached to it, we'll perish with it. "Don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy to God" (Jas.4:4). Becoming too close to the ways of the world threatens our relationship with God... Instead, we are to come out and be separate from the sinful thoughts and actions of the world around us. Only then will God lay claim to us as His children. It is not always easy to be patient when the order of the day in the world calls for impatience. It's not always easy to take time out of the day to serve others when the world will slough it off on someone else. The world says we are to do good only to those who are good to us, but Jesus talks of returning good for evil... We know that a Christian needs to come out of the world, yet how many supposed disciples of Christ act as if the are a part of it instead of a pilgrim in it? A true stranger and pilgrim in this world will give more time, energy and attention to exercising godliness than laying up worldly treasures... In this way, we truly show where are hearts really are. Perhaps a good song to be on our heart today is "This World Is Not My Home..."

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
