Transformation Through Cooperation

"Do not lie to one another, since you have laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who has created him..." (Col.3:9-10).

My wife likes to watch HGTV. On the show, homes are often purchased to be "flipped," and renovations take place. The renovations can be viewed as renewals of the homes so that they will look good to the potential buyers. Make no mistake, in our lives as disciples of the Lord, to renew is to renovate or make a complete change for the better in our life. Just as in a physical renovation of a home, the mind is not renewed instantly or miraculously. The changes are only made when we apply Jesus' teaching to ourselves. I think that today's verses explain this process... This transformation is not accomplished without our cooperation. We have to allow God's Word to teach us new values and priorities. We must have a new view of our role and purpose and a new way of thinking, acting, and reacting to different situations. It is then that our lives will become expressions of the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God... In the "potter and clay" illustration, this is where the real work takes place. Just as the clay has to respond to the hands of the potter to be shaped and molded, so must we respond to the teachings of Jesus in order to be true disciples. We can't be true clay in the potter's hands unless we are yielding to His teachings. I look at it as transformation through cooperation...

Have a great day... Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
