Readiness Through Preparation

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth" (2 Tim.2:15).

For us to achieve success in things that we do, some preparation must be made. It is no different when it comes to defending our faith... In today's verse, the apostle Paul lets Timothy know how to present himself to God correctly. How? "A workman does not need to be ashamed who correctly handles the word of truth." It reminds me of that famous movie line from "A Few Good Men" in which the Colonel is asked to tell the truth on the stand. He responds, "You can't handle the truth!" The only way we can handle the truth is to know it through preparation. Preparing for and attending Bible classes helps us along with studying and meditating on our own. The time we spend in such efforts is helpful in several ways. First, it gives us confidence by strengthening our faith and removing doubts. Our confidence helps other disciples to have confidence, and it can also help those who are lost and searching for the truth if they see someone who is confident in theirs... Peter lets us know that we should always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have in 1 Pet.3:15. He is urging Christians to be ready to give a reasoned and intelligent explanation of their faith to anyone who might ask. The only proper defense for our faith emanates from the Word of God... "All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal" (Psa.119:160).... "Sanctify them by the truth; your Word is truth..." (Jn.17:17). People who are searching for the truth don't need anecdotes, opinions, or personal ideas... Truth is defended by going to the source of that truth...

Have a wonderful day... Make your little part of the world better... Love mark Phil.4:11
