One Day At A Time

"Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining for what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus"  (Phil.3:13-14).

As we continue this series on worry, we come to that yesterday, today and tomorrow thing. If the apostle Paul had allowed his past to rule him and his behavior, he would have never accomplished the things that he did. We cannot alter, adjust or change anything we did in our past. If we, too, have made mistakes in the past, we should derive what wisdom we can from them, get forgiveness for them, and forget them... Forgetting is one of the finest arts... In today's verses, Paul talks of forgetting what is behind and straining for what is ahead... He attributed the mistakes of the past to ignorance and pressed on to a brighter future. The Spirit within us will conquer any worries which might come from the past. My title today is One Day At A Time, so lets get on with it. We originally started this series with the teachings of Jesus about worry in Matt.6:25-34. He finishes the treatise with this statement; "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own"  (Vs 34). If we look at the beautiful logic in all of this, the simplicity is amazing, for the past is gone and the future has yet to come. Trying to live in either will only serve to detract from the present. Unfortunately, life becomes unbearable to some because they try to live it in the whole lump. Lets make one thing clear as we finish. God doesn't want us to be "Bubble Boy." We must live in the world, so His teaching is not about isolation or idleness. We all want to have a bright future, so the best preparation one can make for that is to do what needs to be done today, and do it well. One Day At A Time.... We'll conclude this series tomorrow....

Have a great day....  Make your little part of the world better...    Love                                          mark                                         Phil.4:11
