Old Recipes

"May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces" (Psa.122:7).

Are there any old food recipes floating around in your family that have been passed down to you? When your kids were at home, was there a special meal they liked that may have become your signature creation. Who knows, maybe some of your recipes that you've tweaked a bit here and there will become those old recipes for future generations. In life, the meal that folks really want served to them is one of peace, happiness and prosperity. If you are wondering where this is leading, here goes... Is there a recipe for peace, happiness and prosperity, because this yearning is a universal one that has been sought after forever... As this striving for peace, happiness and prosperity continues, perhaps I should clarify some common misconceptions. First of all, its not wrong for Christians to desire prosperity. The apostle John wrote this to Gaius; "Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers" (Vs 2). I underlined a key point in the verse, as one cannot think that his prosperity means he does not need God anymore. Secondly, happiness and prosperity are not always properly evaluated by the world. The world would have us think that the "good life" is only possible with us at the absolute center of it. The commercials tell us that winners drive the right cars, wash with the right detergents, brush with the proper toothpaste and use the right lotions. Thirdly, faithful service to God does not automatically withhold prosperity. There are those that feel its impossible to be happy and prosperous and be a Christian too, almost as if God holds us back. So.... Just where do we find this recipe you ask? For the next few Fridays, I will take us into the 122nd Psalm. Its only nine verses long, so it is perfect to read and meditate upon... I hope you look forward to next Friday...

Have a great day... T   G   I   F         Thank God I'm Forgiven.... Love mark Phil.4:11
